ORCID iD

The ORCID iD, boasting nearly 20 million users, is the preferred identifier among researchers, publishers, funding bodies, and academic institutions. It plays a vital role in manuscript and data submission workflows, being seamlessly embedded into metadata to establish a lasting connection between an author and their research, regardless of name changes or affiliation moves.

Web of Science ResearcherID

ResearcherID (now integrated with your Web of Science account) provides researchers with an effortless solution for profile creation and updates. It consolidates your publication record, citation metrics, and co-author network into a single, no-cost profile that can be shared with collaborators and evaluators.

Scopus Author ID

Scopus automatically assigns every author an ID and groups their publications indexed in the database. Keeping this profile accurate — merging duplicate profiles and correcting affiliations — ensures your citation counts and h-index are reported correctly wherever Scopus data is used, including university rankings.

VIAF (Virtual International Authority File)

VIAF links name authority records from libraries around the world, helping ensure that your name is consistently represented across international library catalogues, national bibliographies, and discovery systems.

An AI-powered research tool that generates a public author page summarising your papers, citation graph, and influential citations, and highlights how your work connects to the broader literature.

Impactstory

A free online tool that allows you to showcase your research outputs — publications, presentations, data, code, posters — together with measures of their impact. Impactstory uses your ORCID profile to find and import scholarly works automatically.

Kudos

Tailored to help researchers amplify their findings beyond the paywall. It lets you build plain-language summaries and impact statements linked to your publications, and tracks how sharing activity affects downloads and views.

Citation Databases

Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar each index a different, overlapping set of journals and conference proceedings. Checking your profile across all three gives a fuller, more accurate picture of your citation count and h-index than relying on just one source.
