NISER Campus has a high speed local area network with over 4000 nodes covering both the academic, hostel and residential areas. There are two Internet Links for NISER Campus: One 1 Gbps link from BSNL and another 1 Gbps link from NKN (through PGCIL). These two links are implemented on load balancing mode with failover between them for optimal usage and maximum redundancy. The network is fully managed, totally monitored and highly secured as per industry standards. Data Transmission speed within the NISER Intranet is as high as 10 Gbps. Computer Centre of NISER is also going to have a state of the art data center hosting the major devices covering core switch, storage and backup, servers, HPC clusters, etc. Entire Academic Area is covered by institute WiFi through 802.11 b/g/n/ac. Expansion of existing network and new installations are also taken care by Computer Centre.
Presently the customized email facility for NISER is hosted on Google cloud along with other apps for faculty, students and staff.
Computer Centre provides 5 GB disk space to MSc and PhD students and 10 GB to Faculty members and Staff through its Unified storage(EMC Unity400) across the NISER Intranet. The storage has total 42.9 TB usable capacity with automatic archival and backup facility. Users may host their homepage through their home folder.
NISER Bhubaneswar has been accorded Associate Membership by The Linux Foundation and the institute promotes the use of open source in most of its official and academic activities and also encourages the NISER fraternity to contribute to the open source projects. LF Members - Associate
Computer Centre has provided direct IPs (with DNS entry) and SSL certificate to these on-premise servers whose contents are not maintained by CC.
Computer Centre provides IT support to the institute right from the backbone up to desktop level including hardware as well as software support to the official desktops being used by all faculty and staff at NISER.
