Inroduction

SMRUTI was a project designed with the motive of reducing unnecessary lab hours for chemists and there likes. This IOT based system was based on the motives of introducing modular and user-friendly way of automation and smart monitoring in laboratories. The device has some onboard sensors such as IR Temp sensor, Camera etc. and the user can plug in whatever sensors (Such as pH, Temperature, Colour etc.) or actuators (Such as Relay to power off/on heating or to power off/on stirring etc. or automated actuation of mechanisms that may be designed for automatic addition of reagents to reaction vessel etc.) that he needs and configure the device from his phone over Wi-Fi. The device is connected to the internet and syncs sensor data with a google firebase database. User has an app on his phone with can display the data from various sensors. User can command various actuators from within the app itself or he can setup automation instructions from there.

Purpose

The device was designed with the intension of reducing the need of user’s live presence in a lab. This device could help aid the productivity by taking unnecessary load off and also by enabling reactions to go on even when the operator can’t attend to it. It could save a lot of time and also could reduce chances of human error.
