The 11th

INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON
PLANT PHOTOBIOLOGY

The International Symposium on Plant Photobiology began in 2001 in the USA and is now held biennially, with the responsibility for organising the event rotating voluntarily between scientists from North and South America, Asia and Europe. This unique meeting provides a platform for leaders and emerging talents in the field of plant photobiology to share their latest research and discuss future directions. We propose to merge the 11th ISPP with an EMBO workshop to organise a high-quality meeting, which may lead to similar biennial events in future.
It is the single platform where plant photobiology leaders as well as upcoming talents across the globe gather on their own interest to share their latest mostly unpublished results and discuss future directions. This helps the community to exchange up-to-date techniques and approaches to address the different biological problems taken by the different leading groups. The proposed EMBO workshop on "Current Trends in Plant Photobiology" will bring together researchers to present their latest works on the role of photoreceptors as thermo-sensors, how light perception is linked to plant competition, neighbour detection, nutritional uptake, flowering, stress response, circadian clocks, and recent advances in new optogenetic tools that use light to manipulate cellular signalling.
This year, it was decided to take this 11th international symposium on plant photobiology in India hosted by the leadership of Dr. Kishore Panigrahi, NISER as nominated in the 9th ISPP Barcelona meeting, 2019. The co-conveners for 2024 meeting will be Dr. Sourav Datta, IISER-Bhopal; Dr. Chandan Goswami, NISER; Dr. K Himabindu Vasuki, NISER and Dr. Andrija Finka, University of Zadar.

Travel Support

Participants are requested to arrange travel support from their respective institutes. They may mention at the time of application if they have their own travel support. There is some limited travel fund available for young researchers. As per institute rules, 3-AC and 2-AC train fare can be reimbursed to the Ph.D students and Post-doctoral fellows, respectively, from their work place to NISER via the shortest route. Preference for participation in the conference will be given to those applicants who have their own travel support.

Accommodation

Registration fees do not cover accommodation and travel. Participants are requested to book their own accommodation well in advance. Some of the good hotels nearby are mentioned below. However, they are free to choose their own accomodation.
The conference will be held at NISER, which is located about 20Km south of Bhubaneswar city-limits. There are numerous hotels with different budget types present in Bhubaneswar. Few prominent ones are -

Ginger, Jayadev Vihar, Bhubaneswar
Sandy's Tower, Jayadev Vihar, Bhubaneswar
Lemon Tree Premier, Maitree Vihar, Bhubaneswar
Trident, Jayadev Vihar, Bhubaneswar
Mayfair Lagoon, Jayadev Vihar, Bhubaneswar
Mayfair Convention, Jayadev Vihar, Bhubaneswar
Swosti Premium, Jayadev Vihar, Bhubaneswar
Swosti Grand, near Bhubaneswar Railway Station, Bhubaneswar
Vivanta, Patrapada, Bhubaneswar

January is a very busy month in India and many conferences generally do happen. Therefore, normally the accommodation prices go up dramatically, especially in Bhubaneswar. Around this time a doctors conference is also happening that would take away space in many hotels at an uncompromised price tag.

To facilitate your stay and make it enjoyable, we have tried to contact a few hotels and gone into discussion several times with management to offer a negotiated best price for our delegates. Please look into it and decide on your own. These prices are especially for ISPP2024 delegates. The details are given in the table below.

The rooms and prices will be available on a first cum first served basis until the blocked rooms are booked away. I Suggest to mention the name of ISPP2024 and NISER to the contact persons and Please pay directly to the hotel well in advance and secure your stay. We will definitely make arrangements for your pickup and drop-off from these hotels to the conference venue.
