  • Looking for hiring Ph.D. students through the NISER Ph.D. Program: 2022-23 (Summer Session). Interested candidates can apply in the School of Earth and Planetary Sciences here if they have an interest in star and planet Formation, astrochemistry/molecular astrophysics, radio (NASA DSN, GBT, Yebes)/sub-mm (ALMA, NOEMA, IRAM 30m)/infrared astronomy (SOFIA, JWST) to study origin of sun-like stars and planetary systems such as our own solar-system, Exoplanets and its atmospheres.

  • Looking for hiring highly motivated and bright postdoctoral candidates interested in different interdisciplinary areas of Astronomy and Planetary Sciences such as Astrochemistry/Molecular Astrophysics, Interstellar Medium, Star and Planet formation, Radio/Sub-millimeter/Infrared astronomy, Exo-Planetary and Solar-system Science, etc. The candidate will have access to the IRAM-30m, ARO-12m, Nobeyama-45m, ALMA Cycle 6 and 7, SOFIA Cycle 7 data, as well as NASA's JWST-MIRI guaranteed time observations.     PhDs with Physics/Astronomy & Astrophysics/Planetary & Space Science or relevant background may apply. Candidates with good scientific programming to build modeling tools [e.g. using Fortran, Python, or similar langugage], astronomical data analysis [e.g. Radio or Sub-mm (GILDAS, CASA) or Infrared or related analysis in astropython] skills are highly encouraged.

  • Dr. Liton Majumdar of SEPS is one of the co-authors of the latest A&A article, which reports the first discovery of a circumbinary planetary system using ALMA. Link for the press release from CNRS of France which is the French state research organisation and is the largest fundamental science agency in Europe.   • Dr. Liton Majumdar of SEPS awarded with the prestigious Ramanujan Fellowship by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) of Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India after he joined NISER, Bhubaneswar as a faculty.
