Prasenjit Mal, Group Leader

Prasenjit Mal was born in 1976 at Lokhesole, Bankura, West Bengal, India.  He obtained his MSc degree from Indian Institute of technology Kharagpur in 1999 and followed by PhD at Indian Institute of technology Kanpur in 2005.  Then he undertook Post-Doctoral studies at University of Siegen in Germany as Alexander von Humboldt Fellow (2006-2007) and at university of Cambridge in UK as Marie Curie Fellow (2008-2009). He started an independent research career at NISER Bhubaneswar since December 2009.

Dr. Soumya Maity

Dr. Soumya Maity, Post-Doctoral Researcher (email: apusoumya[at] gmail.com)
Soumya Maity was born in 1983 at Urdhabpur, Purba Medinipur, West Bengal, India. He obtained his MSc degree in Microbiology from University of Calcutta, Kolkata, India in 2006 and followed by PhD in Biochemistry from University of Calcutta in 2013. He joined NISER in May 2013 as research associate and started his research work under supervision of Dr. Prasenjit Mal. He is investigating the biological activity of some synthesized organic compounds.

Tapas kumar Achar, PhD student (email: tapas [at] niser.ac.in)

Tapas Kumar Achar was born at Teghari, Purba Medinipur, West Bengal, India. He obtained his B. Sc. in 2007 from Tamralipta Mahavidyalaya (Vidyasagar University), Tamluk, West Bengal, India and followed by M. Sc. degree in 2009 from Vidyasagar University. In July 2010, he commenced studies towards a PhD in Chemistry under the supervision of Prasenjit Mal. He has qualified GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test Examination) in 2010 and received UGC (JRF) NET Fellowship from CSIR India in December, 2009. He is currently working on Development of Organic Synthetic Methodology via Sustainable Approach.

Saikat Maiti, PhD student

Saikat Maiti was born at Govindapur, Panskura, Purba Medinipur, West Bengal, India. He obtained his B. Sc. in 2007 from Midnapur College (Vidyasagar University), Medinipur, West Bengal, India and followed by M. Sc. degree in 2009 from Vidyasagar University. In August 2011, he commenced studies towards a PhD in Chemistry under the supervision of Prasenjit Mal. He has qualified CSIR (JRF) NET Fellowship from CSIR India in December, 2010. He is currently working on Application of Iodine Reagents for the Development of Organic Synthetic Methodology.

Prasit kumar Sahoo, PhD student (email: prasit.sahoo [at] niser.ac.in)

 

Prasit kumar Sahoo was born at Jhargram, West Midnapore, West Bengal, India. He obtained his BSc in 2008 from Jhargram Raj College (Vidyasagar University), Jhargram , West Bengal, India and followed by MSc degree in 2010 from Vidyasagar University. In August 2011 he commenced studies towards a PhD in Chemistry under the supervision of Prasenjit Mal. He has qualified GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test Examination) in 2011 and received UGC (JRF) NET Fellowship from CSIR India in December, 2010. He is currently working on Organic Mechanochemistry.

 Anima Bose, Project student (email: boseanima.11[at] gmail.com)

Anima Bose was born in 1989 at Cuttack, Odisha, India. She obtained her B. Sc degree in 2009 from Ravenshaw University, Cuttack, Odisha with first class first, followed by M. Sc degree in 2011 from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. She has qualified GATE in 2011 and 2013, and CSIR (JRF) NET in Dec 2010, Jun 2011 and Dec 2012. She joined NISER in Dec 2012 and started her research work under supervision of Dr. Prasenjit Mal. She is working on development of new Organic methodology under solvent free condition in Ball-Mill.

Nitesh Kumar, MSc student (email: niteshkumar@niser.ac.in)

Nitesh Kumar was born at Khairthal, Rajasthan, India. He passed his 10th class from Adarsh Vidya Mandir Secondary School at Khairthal and 12th from Shiv Jyoti Senior Secondary School at Kota. He joined NISER Bhubaneswar in 2009 to obtain integrated M.Sc. degree in chemistry. He has been working under the guidance of Prasenjit Mal since August 2012 for his M.Sc. project as a partial fulfilment for the requirement of M.Sc. degree. He secured 20th rank in Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) merit list in his 10th class and was offered scholarship for further studies. He was at the first and second position in district level General Knowledge quiz contest in the consecutive years. In 2009, He cleared NEST and became INSPIRE fellow. He is currently working in the field of pyrophosphate sensing.
