Graphene’s electronic properties are exciting and have been studied extensively. In addition, the mechanical properties are of interest for scientific and technological reasons. I will describe our efforts in my lab to understand these two aspects -- electronic and mechanics in the context of one atom thick graphene. Prior to discussing our experiments I will provide a pedagogical introduction to graphene and argue why it is an exciting experimental platform.
