JB algebras
Abstract: We will talk about JB-algebras and JC-algebras, the Jordan algebra counterparts of B*-algebras and C*-algebras respectively. We will start off with a few preliminaries in functional analysis, order unit spaces, and C*-algebras. Then, we shall see a few results about JB-algebras, their spectral theory, ideals, states, and approximate identities. We shall conclude by giving the GNS construction for Jordan matrix algebras.
