Welcome to the School of Mathematical Sciences

Mathematics occupies a core intellectual position at NISER, an institution that is striving to be recognized as a Center of Excellence in science education and research in basic sciences.The School of Mathematics was established as a core department of the NISER along with other three Schools from the very beginning of NISER in 2007. It is growing rapidly and is now functioning in full swing. Currently, the school offers masters programme (5yr integrated) [syllabus, syllabus(new)] in Mathematics along with Ph. D. programme [Syllabus].

The Summer Outreach Program in Mathematics (SOPM 2023)

The Summer Outreach Program in Mathematics (SOPM 2023) will provide training to students who are in B. Sc. second and third year in different branches of Mathematics. This program is intended to the students having less exposure to Mathematics.

Int. MSc-PhD Program in Mathematics 2023-24

The candidates have to qualify in one of the following examinations: JAM 2023, NBHM M.Sc/Ph.D. Scholarship written examination (a copy of the call letter from NBHM to appear for Interview has to be produced).

PhD Program in Mathematics 2023-24 (Summer)

Candidates should have qualified at least one of these National Level Examinations in Mathematical Sciences i.e. CSIR-UGC-NET (JRF only) /GATE/NBHM*or any other equivalent national level examination valid for the academic year August 2023-July 2024.

*A student will be considered to be qualified in National Level Written Examination conducted by NBHM if he/she has received call letter from NBHM to appear in the interview for PhD fellowship 2023 (irrespective of getting selected for NBHM PhD fellowship 2023 or not).
